Sorry for that sudden emotional leave, I've been kinda fucked up and in another low point, but I'm back to toughing it out and getting some shit done! (Slowly.)

This page turned out a bit sloppy in a few places but at least it's finally DONE. Our first look at Palacitia and it's big main hall!
(There will still be some painful fancy backgrounds to draw throughout this part of the chapter but hopefully there won't be anymore two-week breaks like this one.)

Here are some fun facts:
- The armored Etherean you see near the extravagant doorway in the center is part of the Royal Guard. They're more heavily outfitted, (and more heavily trained/disciplined,) than the average Etherean Knights. You could consider them Ethereal's "Elites", and their Captain will be introduced during this visit.
- The Carmine Ethroy Seal/Insignia you see around is worn on the right sleeve of those who work/live within Palacitia, and on the left sleeve of those who work in the "outer" facilities like the Mana Gate buildings leading inside.
The Royal Guard wear the seal on their chestplate, while the Captain wears it on her cape.

Ah, how grand! This is real fancy! Awesome work on the BG as always~

Woah, really digging the look of this place! The colour scheme is really nice and it looks sorta vast? but comfortably vast. The plant life adds a real nice touch, too.

(Super glad you're feeling back up to chipping away at stuff but don't overdo it, look after yourself first! We'll be here~)

Who is drawing imposing buildings now?
Nice.

Your health comes first. We all have our down days (even if you're like me and have the emotional memory of a goldfish and can't be depressed even if you try), I'm just glad you're okay!

On an unrelated note, what's Renny's last name?

Man this whole page is good, but I'm especially fond of those stairs. <33

I'm glad you're feeling at least a little better!

@TheJGamer, @Captain Ghost, @JoKeR: Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I'm glad the time spent on this page was worth it!
(Hope I don't make anyone worry too much, I just get really worried about the future of myself and my comics and it tends to form a perfect storm when other things in life go wrong.)

@Redjive: It's Xalia! Ren Xalia, though he prefers to go by Renny.

@sentiashinou: The stairs were more of a pain to do than I was expecting when I first started this page, haha.
(I was a bit sloppy with the railings, though, they look way too short.)

Reply       JoKeR, June 6th, 2018, 5:28 am

@Seven Rain: perspective drawing is a bitch. Stairs are their pimp.
The railing is good ...but those two characters and the plants in the first floor are too big.
Look at the person with the books, the railing is near her hips. Now look at those two knights... the railing nearly touches their lower leg. The plant pottery on the ground is a little bit more than two steps high. But the pottery in the first floor is over 3 steps high.

@Seven Rain: Thanks! *time to actually add useful info to the wiki*
In other news, yes, the railings on the stairway are far too short, but honestly? Railing on staircases like that are generally more for decoration than safety, and it looks pretty decorative at that height. In any case, perspective is a real b*tch to get right (primary reason why I can't draw=perspective), and even worse if you're creating the art from scratch (as opposed to, say, drawing a house that's in front of you).

Sometimes we lose the wind in our sails, and we have to row.
Other times...
the wind blows our sails clean off, and the only way to survive is to drop your anchors and ride out the storm as best as we can. Just remember how far you've gone from where you started, and that we'll always be at the harbor, patiently waiting for your safe return.

(I'm super proud of meself for making that up on the spot.)

@JoKeR: Thanks, I'll try tweaking it a bit later on and see if I can fix it. (The real problem is that the characters and plants above the stairs are the size I want them to be, I just messed up on the railings. I'll have to either size down the characters and plants or go through the more tedious work of fixing the railing.)

@Redjive: Speaking of; sorry I haven't done much to the Wiki since my first handful of edits. I've been pretty overwhelmed lately but I'll be sure to get back to it eventually!

Reply       JoKeR, June 7th, 2018, 1:20 pm

@Seven Rain: The stairs tell me that the railing is alright. If you fix the railing you'll have to fix the stairs as well.
I would take the easier approach.

@JoKeR: You really think so? You're probably right, though it'll mean losing more detail on those two, but oh well. I can always include them in future BGs.

Reply       JoKeR, June 7th, 2018, 2:10 pm

@Seven Rain: Then, if you insist on keeping their details as it is, Make the foreground bigger. Take the stairs, lamps, gates with the person and their books plus all the plant pots on the ground and make it bigger. So that the railing at the top meats the hight of the hips of the knight with the grey jacket. (^__-)

Reply       Seven Rain, June 8th, 2018, 5:44 am

@JoKeR: Aha well I think it's better off shrinking the characters and stuff. It might not be perfect but I tweaked it some and hopefully it looks a bit better now!
(Might not reach as high as expected but bear in mind the bottom of the railing appears somewhat off the ground due to being obstructed by the little pillars with the red orbs on them. I measured by the step size instead.)

Reply       JoKeR, June 8th, 2018, 6:39 am

@Seven Rain: looks good pal.

Reply       Redjive, June 8th, 2018, 9:27 am

@Seven Rain: pfffft *waves hand in a manner that conveys a desire for you to not worry about it* I've barely touched that thing since the first 2 weeks it was up. And I'm the one who's a self-named computer 'professional'

And now I am officially caught up! With answers and more answers to come to boot! -w-
